And an excerpt from my journal after arriving back in Thailandā¦

The grass is greener where itās been allowed to rain:
I can only hear the jungle hum once Iāve stepped away from itāand returned.
Itās not background noise today. Itās frontground life: expressing all its aliveness and inviting me to do the same.
I hear more heartbreaking world news as thunder claps over the horizon, breaking itself into the oceanāinviting me to do the same.
Momentarily, it mirrors my inner world.
I watch the Moken kids enthusiastically grabbing a puppy whoās had enough and growls a soft ānoāāinviting me to do the same.
The island doesnāt hold back. It expresses, in any way it needsāstorms, fury, waves⦠And then, once itās ready, it returns to its natural calm. Only once itās ready. And it wonāt be ready until itās out.
I get it. This is the time in existence for Art. Thereās a desperation to express. Feelings have been floods in recent years.
And todayāfloods roll in with weighted feelings, as climate change hits hardā¦
Devastation heightens the urgency to connect with emotion,
to feel it fullyāso it can be freed. And art does that.
It says:
āCome on. Dive into this one. Put your whole heart in it. Let it devour youā
all of youā fully, here and now. And then stop. Itās finished now. Let go of it.ā
Maybe afterwards, you wonāt like how the painting looks,
how the song sounds, or how the cake tastes⦠But that doesnāt matter, because in that moment, you held itā and embraced it with such grace, that it could then be set free.
And that kind of freedom lives in the same placeājust above the heartā as the feeling of watching sunlight strike hibiscus flowers dancing by the water, surrounded by every shade of green, every shape of leaf, every possible critter chatter, in this vivid jungle paradise.
The elation that comes from seeing nature in its full force of expression and life.
Over here, the grass is greener where itās just been wateredā where nature allowed itself to rain. And over here, the wild nature invites us to do the same
